First Wave
A unique feature of the First Wave books is the visual story frames which provide a springboard for oral discussion and critical thinking.
Guide notes inside each book provid readily acceccible support for teachers.
A variety of layouts eith strong visual element that incorporate trails, labelled picture and speed bubbles.
Focus words reappear on pages 14 and 15 in a further "visual story" that provides another platform for oral discussion and story retelling.


Emergent and Early
Guide Notes are provided at the end of each text. These notes give practical suggestions for developing the three language processes (thinking critically, exploring language and processing information).

Emergent and Early levels provide students with varied examples of visual language. Each text has a visual focus like advertisements, recipes, signs, lists, panels, maps, postcards, speech bubbles and more!

Fluency
Many of the text forms have been introduced at the Emergent and Early levels as components of the visual literacy elements. At the Fluency level, text forms are now fully explored. The texts provide children with models that demonstrate the purpose of writing and how writers communciate feelings, information and ideas, in a structured way.
A unique feature of the Fluency Level books is the double page spread on pages 18 and 19 of each book. The specific structures of the text forms are explained step by step for children as a model for their own writing.
